MAN CHARGED FOLLOWING COLLISION ON ALBION STREET - GRIMSBY

A MAN has been charged in connection with a road traffic collision which left a woman with potentially life changing injuries.

Paul WOODHOUSE (23) of NFA was arrested by police after a silver coloured Fiat Punto was involved in a collision with a central island in the road on Albion Street.

Mr WOODHOUSE has been charged with use of a motor vehicle without third party insurance and causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He appeared at Grimsby Magistrates Court on Monday 17th March where he was remanded in custody and will be appearing at Grimsby Crown Court on Friday 21 March.

Three other people who were arrested, a 22 year old woman, a 26 year old man and a 24 year old man have all been released on bail to a date in April pending further enquiries.

Following the collision, which happened at around 1120hrs on Friday 14 March, a 25 year old woman was airlifted to HRI. Her injuries and now described as potentially life changing and is still in hospital receiving treatment.

Police are still trying to locate the driver of a red coloured vehicle, which it is believed was almost in collision with the Fiat PUNTO prior to it colliding with the street furniture. A blue coloured Taxi was also believed to have stopped at the junction close to where the incident happened. Police would also like to speak to the driver of both of these vehicles, as they may have been a potential witnesses.
